I think I have a virus but I know nothing about computers. I disconected my Internet and I am keeping my computer off until my uncle who works as an It can take a look at it. If I keep the computer off and keep the Internet off, will this stop the virus until my uncle can take a look at it?

I wasn't even on internet when it happened, so I don't know where it came from. It shows up in the lower right hand corner saying my computer is at risk, hijacked, or whatever. Well I was able to get rid of it, but now I'm having to fix the damage. There are places like control panel, that i am not able to open because the "application cannot be found". I was trying to upload a new antivirus but in order to remove the old one, i have to go into the "add/remove" thing in control pannel... but i can't because it says "application not found". So... I'm not able to do anything but internet and email on my computer. I can't even use Word Doc for anything. I un-installed it and then re-installed it with the CD, but even that won't work. My parents just got hit with the same virus a couple nights ago too, and they're having even worse problems. They can't get rid of it off their computer, and can't even get to internet. How am I able to fix this? Or should I just have someone computer tech come and fix it for me?
